Google TV Remote iPhone App Hits iTunes Store-eWeek

Google reminded the public that its Web-meets-television service is still around by releasing a version of its Google TV Remote application for the Apple iPhone 18 March.

Launched in October on Logitech's Revue companion boxes and Sony Internet tv and Blu-ray players, Google TV is an Android-based software service, users can switch between their tv content and Web applications such as Netflix and Amazon Video on Demand.

The service was virtually proclaimed animals, unfinished or even flawed by many reviewers. Google made some improvements in December to enhance the user experience, the release of Google TV Remote app connects Google TV through a user's WiFi network.

Remote App mimics Logitech built Google TV keyboard controller, letting users change channels, adjust volume access DVR content.

It is, however, a better, letting users search for shows and movies by speaking into the handset, from anywhere in their house. Google launched originally only this app Android phone users omit the Apple mobile device users who also use Google TV.

Google published finally Remote App for the iPhone to Apple's iTunes App Store that users can download free of charge in order to manage their Google TV content consumption from their iPhones, iPads, and iPod touch devices running iOS 3 or higher.

Google offered a warning to the app; remote iOS reason will not allow Google TV users to share Web pages from their phone to their tv screens. This is a smart feature Android phone owners can use to "throw" YouTube videos from their handsets to see on the big screen in the home.

Google Remote App for iPhone is just the latest of several free, native apps Google has designed for the iPhone since Apple relaxed up its developer terms of Service. Automatically joins Google Voice, Google goggles, Google Latitude, Google places, among others.

It is unclear how many iPhone or iPad owners use Google TV instead of Apple TV, much cheaper, but less functional Web TV product. There would certainly have an influence on how many people download the free Remote App to iOS devices.

FIRST robotics competition finale today-Journal and Courier

Rock and roll music, flashing lights and roaring crowd disappears when Ben Carson is controlling the robot.

"Everyone can be your name screaming and shouting, and you don't hear a thing," said the West Lafayette High School sophomore. "You just focus on the robot move."

The bot Carson and junior classmate Henry Williams control is part of the first game of this year--an acronym for "for inspiration and recognition of science and technology." Although it is a national organization dedicated to inspiring in students an appreciation for science and technology, take the events on a laboratory-meets-circus-sphere.

Westside boiler invasion is one of the 42 teams of usually Midwestern schools--including teams from Lafayette Jefferson and Harrison high schools in Tippecanoe County--in the Purdue Boilermaker regional University today. They compete for a chance to go to the national competition in St. Louis next month.

Each team works from a standard set of components to build a robot designed to solve a common problem, which changes every year. Students work side-by-side with teachers, parents, technicians and other professionals.

West side of the robot is built with four Mecanum wheels. That can move left to right without twisting.

It is also programmed with sensors and encoders to control on the playing field within the Purdue Armory.

This year the game is called "LOGO Motion" and robots have to place triangle, circle and square-shaped inner tubes on racks to score points. These three shapes constitute the first logo.

There is a twist to this years game. For the first time, allowed the teams build smaller robots designed to climb a pole at the end of the contest for extra points.

Williams, who controls the robot gripper and arm, said that his team is out today first take place.

"We came in second in 2009, ' 08 and ' 07," he said. "We want to win this year."

But the focus at first is not all about robots. In addition to the technical aspect, each team also builds a website and operates on a community outreach project.

"It's like being thrown in the corporate world," said junior Justin Baer of precision Guessworks, the Lafayette Jeff team. "You learn to take leadership roles, working with different personalities and talk with the community."

As part of their community outreach, Jeff students are collecting money for the Red Cross for victims of the disaster in Japan to help.

Sophomore Megan Huan said the experience has her eyes open for engineering and the skills needed for college. The team Jeff has already invited the national competition.

"It's a blast to be a part of," said Huan, a member of the first year. "If we're going to St. Louis, we're going to show our best efforts."

Industrial dexterous Robot Gripper launched on automate 2011-Robotics Online (press release)

Robotiq Gripper company

Recent years challenging for the North American manufacturing industry and momentum is picking up back. It is still fresh in their minds, manufacturers more aware than ever that they need to reduce costs while also increasing the flexibility of their processes more quickly respond to changes in the market. It is in this context that Robotiq the adaptive gripper automate 2011 launches.  The Gripper world's first industrial generating dexterous grab that industrial robots "hand-like" possibilities for their ability to a wider range of items to manipulate, explore a grip and press a particular part.

"Applications with a very large number of different parts are challenging to automate as contemporary current one hand/one tool approach. Tooling is complicated, and grabs change cycle time increases and decreases the Return on Investment. As such, many of these applications are still running with human operators. ", explains Erik Nieves, Director of technology for Motoman Robotics. MOTOMAN is a Robotiq partner who will distribute the Adaptive Gripper.

"Everyone has seen humanoid robots with human-like hands in the media. There are a lot of these hands out there, but most of them have limited to market research. Even if their flexibility is interesting, they are often too complex and fragile that makes them impossible to use in an industrial environment. "declares Robotiq the CEO Samuel Bouchard. The adaptive gripper of Robotiq is the first dexterous gripper that is robust and simple enough to grab required flexibility to the current production settings. The Gripper is focused on applications that have a very high share treatment of diversity and complexity of parts geometry. Examples of applications are: meeting transfer, parts, machine tending or share positioning in welding.

The technology is in development and testing for the past two years. It will be officially launched on the automate 2011 show held in Chicago from March 21 and 24, which it will be displayed on different partner of robots.

About Robotiq
Robotiq is a manufacturer of robot parts in Quebec City, Canada. It is a privately funded company founded in 2008.

Sprint CTIA 2011 announcement plans and details revealed-phones Review

CTIA 2011, it is not far from, and it appears that some of the messages, Sprint had planned to do at CTIA was found before the event, probably to the chagrin of Sprint, of course, so let us find out which devices have been revealed.

According to an article over in report Boy Genius has their sources revealed that Sprint will announce the HTC EVO, HTC EVO smartphone 3D view 4 G and Android 3.0 Honeycomb Motorola Xoom, as we have previously heard about.

Together with the revealed messages come some juicy specs on the said devices … the HTC EVO 3D will sport a 4.3-inch 3D monitor, qHD Autosterioscopic 1.2 GHz processor, gen two rear facing 5 megapixel cameras, the 1.3 megapixel front facing camera, dedicated camera button, 1080p and 720 p video output, Android 2.3 Gingerbread US, 4 GB RAM, 1 GB ROM, (though apparently them could return) and blockbuster 3D on demand, and YouTube 3D apps.

Next view HTC EVO 4 G smartphone will sport a 7-inch capacitive touch screen, aluminum unibody, 5 megapixel rear camera, 1.3 megapixel front facing camera, DNLA, HDMI out, HTC sense UI, HTC Scribe with pen support optional, and will run Android 2.3 Honey cakes.

Motorola Xoom to Sprint Android 3.0 Honeycomb unit will be the same as Verizon version and will support WiMAX, as we have previously heard. Other devices apparently commitment, Sprint includes a WiMAX and WiFi version of RIM BlackBerry scenario and Samsung showcase 3, which apparently is a 3 G messaging handsets.

So it exists, do you believe that Sprint will have something left to announce at CTIA 2011? Maybe they managed to keep something under wraps for the incident, guess we'll have to wait and see.

Site-loading speed battle 2: Motorola Xoom vs. Apple iPad 2-CNET

A few weeks back we convert the original iPad against the Xoom in a site-loading speed battle. While most of the feedback was positive, a few commenters expressed their disappointment that we are the original iPad instead of the iPad 2. Well, now that the iPad 2 is released, we cannot in fact the story that you've been waiting for for entries. One that will undoubtedly meet everyone.

So, let's get right to it.

Testing
Site-loading speed is one of the easiest things to test, and it is a test that many users can immediately relate to. as I said in the previous post, I'm a bigger fan of real-world tests like going to real, actual sites, then of synthetic benchmarks.

We have three different Web sites used for the tests: CNET.com, CBSNews.com and GiantBomb.com. Each tablet was connected to the same network closed with no other devices on the router, with about 5 metres away. We considered the test to start the moment we pressed Enter and run to the time that the blue progress bar on each tablet disappeared. We used iOS 4.3 for the iPad and iPad 2, and the Xoom is using Android OS 3.0.1.

Although in the video you have only one repetition for each test actually sees, we ran each test multiple times; about those points we got results consistent with what you see here. Also, we erased from every tablet browser cache before each iteration of the tests will be performed.

Now, as much as we would like for these tests fully relevant for everyone in every situation, that is almost impossible. We tested these tablets under certain conditions in a "free" environment. The network was closed, but we cannot account for noise from other networks. This is a snapshot of the performance in our test environment, and your results may vary.

Contrast ratio (max brightness)

Conclusion
The iPad 2 shows a vast improvement over the original iPad and has its own against the Xoom for the most part. On a really busy site like CBSnews.com, however, flush out the iPad 2 a little, while the Xoom flies by with relative ease.

We were surprised that Apple increased the maximum brightness on the iPad 2 and it will be interesting to see what effect that on the iPad's battery life. Look for some battery life test results very soon.

Automate 2011 to honor first industrial Robot from 50 birthday-AZoRobotics

By Andy Choi

This pavilion would include a timeline, which can be a choice of vintage robots, an assessment of the imaginary robots created through science fiction through the ages, exhibitions and also shows the technical progress of Robotics from 1961. The automate 2011 will be held between 21 and 24 March at the McCormick Place in Chicago.

A special tribute to the father of robotics, Joseph f. Angel berger would also be given, by showing a video of the archiving of the Unimate robot, which was launched by the Angel berger company and also interviews of Angel berger taken during the period of the infancy of robotics.

Jeff Burnstein, who of the industry trade group President of Robotic Industries Association (RIA) has stated that there is more than one million industrial robots installed all over the world in factories, and all that this happened due to Joe Angel berger company Unimation. George Devol that the patent to the Unimate met Angel berger in 1956 at a cocktail party and that is where it all began. The Pavilion tribute would present the timeline of how the Unimate evolved.

The RIA would present the Angel berger Robotics Awards, the industry's highest honor to Dr. Henrik Christensen, Director of the Center for robotics and Intelligent Machines at Georgia Institute of Technology and Åke Lindqvist, former Vice President of ABB Robotics on 22 March. These awards were started in 1977 and to date more than 113 industrial leaders from 16 Nations have received and all of the recipient names would be listed in the Pavilion tribute.

This show is the largest Automation event in North America and exhibitions, robotics, motion control and machine vision solutions by more than 170 companies. More than 40 tutorials and Conference sessions are also planned for this show. According to Burnstein, more than 7,500 visitors were to attend the exhibition and many companies from around the world would like to know the advantages offered by automation. This would fall into the show and of particular importance is the presentation given by Drew Greenblatt that the President of Marlin steel wire, where he with the audience his story of robots helping him to trounce would share its competitors in China. The presentation would on 22 March at 10: 00 a.m. after the keynote address by General Motors and NASA at 8: 45 am, which is on the Robonaut 2, a humanoid robot to space would be sent.

Cellular South HTC desire Android 2.2 Froyo update finally rolling now-create view

With Android 2.3 Gingerbread have been out for about three months now (assigned, only inside the Google Nexus S so far), it may be easy to forget that some Android phones still stuck on Android 2.1. HTC desire may have been one of the first units to receive an update to Android 2.2 Froyo just a few months after that was made available, but it was international, unlocked HTC desire. The carrier-specific versions is a completely different story, and while some got their fair share of Froyo, others, such as the to U.S. air carrier Cellular South does not.

Until now. Cellular South has finally announced that the update to Android 2.2 Froyo to his version of the HTC desire has started rolling. The update is variety of over-the-air, which means that your phone will inform you that an update is available, and you just have to accept it. The phone then continues to download and install the update by itself, not the computer is necessary for this.

Remember, Cellular South has said that it may take a few days for the update to reach all units, so no reason to panic if you are not among the first to receive it. You may be able to get it faster if you just force a manual check for updates starting at midnight tonight. You do this by going to settings > about phone > System software updates > search now.

Get all the information about what this update will bring to your smartphone, read the PDF document. Installation instructions and an overview of the update provided in this PDF file.

Researchers in lost iPhone 4 prototype case expected findings report soon-Apple Insider

By Katie Marsa

A probe of the Government in the high-profile case of an iPhone 4 prototype which was bought by a gadget blog after it went missing from Apple last spring is on the verge of taking her fruits, according to a published report.

CNet on Thursday looking for an update on the case, contacted Stephen Wagstaffe, district attorney for the county of San Mateo, California, who told the publication that he believes that the investigation as early as next month, could close as researchers are close to their interviews for him to present their findings.

The investigation dates back nearly a year last April when Robert Gray Powell, a 27-year-old Apple employee who works on the then unreleased iPhone 4 's baseband, accidentally left an unmarked prototype of the handset on a German beer garden in Redwood CityCalif. While he was out celebrating his birthday.

Brian Hogan, a 22-year-old student, then the prototype found and sold it to Gawker Media's Gizmodo for $ 5,000, with the help of the 27-year-old University of California at Berkeley student Robert Sage wallower, who allegedly acted as a fence.

Within days, Gizmodo had photos and videos from the device published on its website, along with a teardown of the hardware, pieces of which were then picked up by the national media and broadcast on network television news stations.

Apple began almost immediately, pressure on local authorities an investigation into the matter, claiming that the prototype was so valuable--because the product had not yet been introduced to the public--that no price tag can be placed on it. At the same time, Apple CEO Steve Jobs personally contacted Gizmodo editor Brian Lam through email, he asks the device back.

So far, no charges are filed in the case, which officially "a felony theft research." The next item is or an actual crime has taken place and those responsible should be held, researchers should determine that laws were broken.

For his part, jobs has raised the possibility that the device can actually stolen from Powell at the bar, instead of just discovered after have left behind.

"There is an ongoing study," jobs told the Wall Street Journal's Walt Mossberg during all things d Conference of last June. "I can tell you what I do know, though. To create a product that you need to test it. You have to wear them outside. One of our employees wore a. There is a discussion about whether he left it in a bar, or it was stolen from his pocket.

"The person who tried to sell it, they called Engadget found, they are called Gizmodo," he continued. "The person who took the phone plugged it into his roommates computer. [...] And this man tried to destroy evidence, and his roommate called the police.

"So this is a story that is great: it has theft, it got buy stolen property, it's got extortion, I am sure there are some sex there," joked jobs. "The whole thing is quite colorful. The DA is looking for it, and to my knowledge they have someone to make sure they only see things that relate to this case. I do not know how it will end. "

For their part, prosectors have maintained that media organisations such as Gizmodo can not expect to be immune from criminal law if they commit crimes. As such, they obtained a warrant to search of the House of Jason Chen, one of the editors of the publication, and proceeded to break his door and seized four computers, two servers and an assortment of other electronics in late April 2010.

But as CNet points out, the allegations made by the Reporters Committee for freedom of the press and other interest groups can serve to complicated with their claims that police the Federal law on Privacy, which broadly immunizes news organisations from searches violated--unless the journalists themselves the crime committed.

In addition, California law can provide protection to writers for newspapers, magazines, and "other periodical publications," the report added, which is a term that a State Court has applied to an Apple online publication before: Apple Insider.

HP teases us with a non-existent rear camera in a TouchPad promo video-Liliputing

The upcoming tablet from HP TouchPad has a lot of things going for it: a nice large 9.7 inch, 1024 x 768 pixel display, a fast dual-core 1.2 GHz processor and webOS 3.0 software with a heavy emphasis on multitasking. But it doesn't have one thing – at least according to the official spec sheet — is a rear-facing camera. But someone apparently forgot to send the memo to the people responsible for a promotional video showing off the tablet.

PreCentral spotted a rear camera and an augmented reality app that uses it in the video. HP has unfortunately only promised to a 1 .3MP front-facing camera for video chat.

Honestly, I'm not all that displeased about this. While the Apple iPad 2 and most prominent that Android tablets have front and rear cameras, you have to wonder how often you're going to hold up a 10 inch piece of plastic and use to shoot photos or videos. While integrated cameras changed the way we think about mobile phones, the front-facing camera for video calls far more stitch on larger tablets.

Still, it's nice to have both ... and while not officially HP said anything about a rear camera, it is possible that one could make in the last production unit. The Touchpad is not expected to launch until June, so there is enough time for HP to change things on a bit.

Battle of students to qualify more robots-Santa Maria times

The high-schoolers have a trick up their sleeves with a robot climbing a ladder.

The crafty young people, all members of Nipomo High School Titan Robotics team, try to at least one more robot World Robotics VEX in April and the "Mikkel-bot" would be their best ticket as its less-common trick judges at the current competition impresses in Lemoore.

A robot, lovingly named "apple pie," is already heading to the world championship that students of high school and high school in the whole country to the ESPN Sports Center in Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, April 14 to 16.

Walt Disney World calls a sign hanging on the wall in the classroom of Middle School Nipomo where Titan Robotics practices as a reminder of the purpose at hand.

"It is our motivation," said Victoria Kaml, a junior in its first year with the Robotics team led by math teacher Greg Gracia.

In their second House, the 10 robotics team members practice maneuvering the three student-created robots to perform tasks that are picking up colored, plastic rings and place them on pillars to score the most points possible.

The Mikkel-bot, named after her driver and team President Mikkel Sandberg, is a striking, because it was designed with claw hands that allows a driver to climb a ladder, who earns more points. The robot has garnered recognition at tournaments in the past but never posted.

Gracia said if one more robot steps up today — the third robot is called "Phoenix" — the team would have a better chance of earning a higher place on the Championship. It is the fourth consecutive year that the team has qualified, but students have always placed on the back of the packaging of about 100 schools.

"The goal would be to finish in the top 20," said Gracia, which is a Titans Robotics fundraiser for sometime in April.

With or without an impressive championship finishing the students still get to learn about mechanical engineering, collaboration and communication.

Junior Kristian Chavez said to participate in the team this year was an excellent decision as it could help build a foundation for the pursuit of an engineering degree.

Usually, it is about having fun.

"I never thought I could build something similar," said Chavez. "It's a real team effort."

Microsoft to kill Sidekick service such as T-Mobile relaunches with Android-Seattle Post Intelligencer (blog)

If you are one of the few Sidekick users left and plan to have your phone through May 31, you may want to think again.

Microsoft closes the Sidekick data services on the day in question.

Microsoft has covered a sidekick servers since acquires danger for $ 500 million in 2008. But now, where T-Mobile has interrupted the old phones and restart the Sidekick brand running Google Android, Microsoft, stepping out of the image.

Many users are familiar with the Sidekick, has not been particularly reliable Microsoft's services. Danger servers went down at the beginning of October 2009, interfere with the data service to millions of Sidekick users and causing many to temporarily lose their contact lists. T-Mobile stopped sales for a month and a half, while Microsoft resolved the problem, but which then confidence in danger service all but disappeared. After Microsoft's Kin disaster last summer, Verizon added to T-Mobile Microsoft mobile problems by killing all Sidekick sales.

But Sidekick phone comes back – with Android instead of the old risk platform. Earlier this week, T-Mobile team discussed some of the features in the new Side kicks.

Here is an excerpt from the all things Digital report:

T-Mobile said it spent a long time researcher what attributes defined Sidekick, as well as which of its quirks was just a little too unbalanced. As with previous Page kicks the device contains a unique pop-open screen and large five-line Qwerty keyboard. Also retained, though acceptable little Android is dedicated "hop" button to move between applications. In addition, however, Scroll mood-light color-change wheel switching through different colors when a call came in.

As with previous Page kicks is a key function of the device is messaging capabilities. While the early Page kicks focused on instant messaging, this time, the focus is on social networks and text messaging – including built-in Twitter and Facebook connections and group text messaging added to the programme main texts mobile. Although this sidekick has far fewer Cloud services than the risk-based models, the T-Mobile plans to offer a program for viewing and sending text messages on the Web.

The new phones will run on T-Mobile's own servers instead of those of a third party such as Microsoft's danger. After May 31, will old phones no longer could fully.

Decommissioning, marks the end of another era for the acquisition of Microsoft a big-budget. Team danger went on to build the failed social Kin phones, but after their cancellation after seven short weeks on the market employees revealed internal unrest in the Microsoft mobile enterprise.

The below comment was highlighted at the well-read Mini-Microsoft blog, which is run by an anonymous employee (even though the posts have been few and far between):

You are correct, the remaining danger team was not professional nor did we have to show the amazing things we had carried out danger such a great place. But the reason was our collective unbelief, we worked on a screwed up place. Yes, we took a long packed lunches and we sat in the meeting rooms and attended the coffee breaks and the conversations went something like this … always "Can you believe, we want to do this?" Or "you heard that IM was cut, YouTube was cut down? App store was cut? " "Can you believe how poorly managed this place is?" "Why is this place to dysfunctional??"

Please understand that we went from being a high function, very passionate and driven organisation to a dysfunctional organisation where decisions were taken by policy rather than logic.

After this report, it was said that most of the employees who joined Microsoft from danger had left the company that Microsoft put focus on the development of Windows phone 7.

The NYT and the blogosphere, Ctd-the Atlantic

Dave Winer thinks that the NYT has focused too much on themselves:

They do not offer something to the readers than the Times survive, and they are not explicitly about that. It would not have been wise to, at this time to offer something to sweeten the deal. Something really exciting and new that you get when you pay the money. Something that your palms sweat and makes your heart beat a little faster?

I got $ 700 last week to a few small improvements to my iPad. If they had said "give us $ 700 so that we can survive," well, I would have done. But I feel better about getting the new features.

Darrell Etherington finds the new plan myopic when it comes to apps:

[A] pp users will be most influenced by the new subscription plan. Apps will still work for the iPhone and iPad readers, but they will only provide access to the Top News section (remember the Editor's Choice app? If that.) and all other content requires a digital subscription. No monthly limit applies in both app.

I suspect, this would be where the times sees the biggest drop of the readers. Light to moderate app users faced with the choice of a digital subscriber always or strictly go back to the web with its wider access, I think most will choose the latter, which could hurt the Times's ability to attract lucrative advertising deals to the apps.

Rainbow Six: Shadow Vanguard iPhone Review-IGN

Let's start this with a personal anecdote. When playing Gameloft's Modern Combat 2, I couldn't wait to see what was around the next corner right up through the last mission. In Rainbow Six: Shadow Vanguard, I lost interest at the halfway mark. It doesn't help that the collage of missions lacks a centralized story. What really got me was that the contextual controls that I hoped the messy screen problem of many iPhone action games-Gameloft specifically would solve. Namely, they didn't help much after all. My thumbs were still on the screen, stuck on a dozen different buttons.

Shadow Vanguard is a Rainbow Six game, which means that the focus is on tactical action instead of run-and-gun fireworks. As a fan of the last Rainbow Six games, like Vegas, I employed the pacing here. While some situations pass into shooting galleries, place a premium on shadow Vanguard room profound and stealthy progress. You walk into a door, your two teammates in position, and then use a snake cam to identify potential threats on the other side. If the coast is not clear, then mark your goals and choose a course of action, such as a surprise attack under cover of a flash bang.

You direct your teammates by tapping contextual buttons on the environment, such as green marks next to doors or corners. When you sidle up to the door, buttons for opening the door, using a grenade, storming with strength, and more for you appear. This system works well. But there is still so much clutter on the screen, with buttons for selecting virtual weapons, sticks, aiming, bake, grenades, cover, coming out of cover, noise level, pause and more supervision. It's too much, especially if you're in an intense firefight. Gyro goal on an iPhone 4 illuminated a bit of fuss (and work well for nailing headshots), but at one point that I just wanted to give the enemy without over-thinking of the controls.
The missions themselves are modest varied, although most everything comes down to taking a main target. Each command has multiple objectives, including several which result in a bonus points. Banking experience of goals, scoring headshots (which is not terribly difficult, considering how un-smart enemies), and set up clean operations goes to improve weaponry and equipment.

Shadow Vanguard contains a healthy multiplayer mode. There are five specific deathmatch maps for 10-player team mayhem. Unfortunately, that mayhem is hampered by weird respawns that don't have any problem you dumping out right in the middle of enemy territory. Online contests was suffering, too. In comparison with N.O.V.A. 2, always shadow Vanguard certainly quite a bit more.

The other half of multiplayer is online co-op. up to three players can dive into the single-player missions and work together to save the day. Immediately, serious problems. One, there is no chat-voice or text. So there is no strategizing, which pretty much the point of co-op play sewer. Two, if one of your teammates leaves, the game is over. AI is not acceptable. This is another bummer.

The first day of Downloads IE9 disappoint-ConceivablyTech

Microsoft released its first IE9 browser Download numbers, which are, however, well behind expectations. 2.35 million people downloaded the browser version – which is more than the Microsoft Windows phone 7 devices were sold during the technology platform will launch in the first quarter, but significantly less than the comparable performance to download Mozilla and Apple during the first 24 hours.

Microsoft's Ryan Gavin said, had 240 downloads for 9 seconds, IE9, or more than 27 million Downloads per second – a total of € 2.35 downloads within the first 24-hour period. It is the "wow", Gavin, and the number is impressive, but if we consider the fact that at the moment, somewhere between 500-600 million for IE, and more than 200 million active Windows 7 users (who are the primary user of this group dial-in client interface into the browser), 2,35 million downloads on the first result is less than lukewarm reception. However, Microsoft is likely to be more than the results of the first days of the date on which the Download IE8 in March 2009.

IE8, which receive marketing support initially, was loaded in less than 2 million times within two weeks after its launch, such as Net application in the market share estimates. Microsoft, of millions of dollars poured into IE9 beta and the final version of the start of the marketing of the parties, concerts, and has been marketed through the IE9 web banners for several months. The market share has yet been reached only 0.59% in February, which covers approximately 36 million at the end of the beta and RC downloads. The market share numbers suggest that the only 20-25% downloaded versions are still using IE9. 36 million downloads would have led to a market share of the market share exceeded 3%.

In particular, Apple and Mozilla has been much stronger in the first, download the performance. We remember that already have Firefox 2, was released in October 2006 was more than 2 million downloads in its first. Firefox 3.0 to reach 2,9 million downloads within 8 hours, and 7.7 million within 24 hours. Firefox 3.5 was estimated at around 5 million downloads in its first and Apple said that Safari 4 has been downloaded over 11 million times within three days. These Download numbers will also be introduced in relation to their installed bases as well as in theory possible for the target group. Firefox was less than 10% market share, when version 2 was launched and today than the market had significantly fewer PCs.

Firefox 2 was, however, the advantage that it supports all popular Windows versions at the time, even if IE9 supports only Windows Vista with Service Pack 2 (SP2) and Windows 7. Because of its features, download the IE9 is disappointing. Because of its limited REACH, the numbers may be within expectations, and Microsoft may be hard for a ride in the coming months, Apple, Google, Mozilla, and Opera laajakaistapalveluita new browser that is applied on all business data records created in Microsoft environments.

Will the iPhone 5 supports Dual-SIM-cards for two different numbers? -Gotta Be Mobile

will the iPhone 5 supports Dual-SIM-cards for two different numbers?

Now that the iPad has launched 2, we take a break from Apple tablet rumors to cover rumors about Apple smartphone. A new rumor is spread by Chinese smartphone share reseller iDealsChina posits that the next generation iPhone 5 not one but two SIM card load will have to support dual-SIM cards.

iDealsChina says that the feature iPhone 5 owners have two lines of the service will allow, and two numbers at the same time, that would be great for travelers who need access to a home SIM card in a home network and also a global roaming SIM work could, or for users who use the iPhone 5 and would like to have their work and personal lines on the same device.

The rumor presented by iDealsChina seems a bit questionable, though, and 9to5 Mac has chimed in with their own theory, suggesting that the iPhone 5 will a phone of the world sporting Qualcomm's Gobi chip, which will combine CDMA and GSM support in a singular design. This means that the iPhone 5 on Verizon's CDMA network or AT&T the GSM network in the States could be used, and also to a country using CDMA or GSM technologies can roam. Or by using the function can duplicate or simultaneous services via different carriers is possible is uncertain, but if the iPhone 5 concurrent carrier services allows this, you could theoretically have a Verizon and AT&T all in one device.

Robotic nurse in development at Purdue-Fox News

Lafayette, Ind.--Dr. Daniel Wickert is one of the local midwife-gynaecologists who uses the da Vinci Surgical System, a $ 1.5 million robot-assisting surgical device housed in St. Elizabeth East.

While sitting at the console of the system, Wickert four robotic arms maneuver during common gynaecological operations such as a hysterectomy. "We are now making smaller incisions, which allows people to recover faster," said Wickert, who works at Lafayette & Obstetrics Gynecology.

Not surprisingly, Wickert open for more robotic devices to assist in the operating room. "I think we're at the beginning of where robots or the benefits of the advanced technology will take us."

Purdue University researchers develop a gesture-controlled robotic scrub nurse prototype that may one day ease the nurse of some of its technical tasks or replace the scrub technician who sometimes is responsible for the fulfilment of these tasks.

The vision is for the robot two tasks that monotonous but extremely important for a scrub nurse or tech-the instruments to the surgeon and control of the number of instruments used are-but faster than a human. The goal is to help reduce medical errors such as exit instruments within the body of a patient.

Juan Wachs, an assistant professor of industrial engineering at Purdue, leads the research team. It includes two industrial engineering PhD, Ting Yu Li and Mithun Jacob. The doctoral duo is responsible for making the robot "intelligent" by creating the necessary software.

They are writing the code, the experiments to perform, validation of the system, summary of the results and compare different approaches. Wachs is mentoring, advise and guide them through the research.

Wachs is specialized in machine and computer vision and robotics. The idea for this robotic scrub nurse came during his machine vision and robotics graduate level class held fall semester.

October, Li and Jacob were brainstorming ideas for a final project, and the idea of the development of a gesture-controlled robotic scrub nurse came into creation.

Using natural language, gestures and Robotics in the operating room is something that Wachs has worked for the past five years. In 2008 he published research on "Gestix," another vision-based technology that would allow surgeons to images in an electronic medical record database search by simply moving their hands in front of a large computer screen, such as Tom Cruise made famous in the 2002 Steven Spielberg movie "Minority Report".

Instead of relying on nurses to browse through electronic medical records as soon as an operation begins--thus creating room for error and delays--the surgeon can browse through records on his own without the sterile field.

Gestix II is in development, said Wachs.

Li and Jacob didn't have to build the robot from scratch. Under the Wachs supervision she took a $ 32,500 robotic arm bought from Fanuc Robotics and developed software that could see hand gestures and react accordingly. "Now, the gestures are recognized at 95% accuracy," Jacob said.

The yellow Fanuc arm weighs about 59 pounds and sits in a aluminum and Plexiglass cage, that the user protects injured. Wachs said that this kind of robotic arm is used for education and research. Larger versions are used in car production facilities.

So far, the robot understands gestures for the following five surgical instruments; a scalpel, scissors, retractor, Tang and hemostat. Every gesture fingers used a number. For example, to receive a pair of scissors, the surgeon must stop two fingers in front of the camera.

The arm would then hand the scissors a magnetic gripping device that Li and Jacob created.

The quest to give this machine remains dynamic eyes and ears. Jacob is currently working on updating the possibility of "see" the robot by changing the current robotic eye--a comparable CCD camera with a video camera--to a Microsoft Kinect camera records. This will be the robot depth perception.

The prototype was fully functional in about five years, but its development will depend on future funding, Wachs said. Now, the development is funded by means of Wachs ' research start-up package of Purdue.

Wachs has applied for federal funding from the national institutes of health and plans to apply to the National Science Foundation. He hopes to reach at least $ 500,000 in total for the next five years of research. Most of the federal funding would be used to compensate for the research team. A smaller portion, between $ 50,000 and $ 60,000, would be used for the purchase of a longer and faster robotic arm.

The prototype has all his sceptics. Dr. Ruban Nirmalan, a general surgeon with Indiana University Health Arnett, said a robotic scrub nurse would not only have to be fast and recognize the voice of the surgeon and hand gestures flawlessly but can "think" and the series to keep up with a dynamic case change.

"Like a robot the (Basic) tasks do can it can be useful in some simple, routine operations," he said.

"However, I am skeptical that we have the technology now available for a robot that tasks. Ask a robot to think for themselves, and are doing well, the biggest hurdle for this device. "

Dorothy McClannen, professor of surgical technology and program chair at Ivy Tech Community College, is not concerned that this new technology scrub techs in the operating room will be replaced.

"I could see (have) a role in a part of the operation, but I don't see how it could be replaced by one of the (certified surgical technologists)," she said. "Their job is just far too complicated. People think they just passing on what the surgeon asks for but it is so much more than that. "

NFC: the Apple rumor that just won't quit-CNET

What a confusing week for iPhone rumors. On Monday, said a report by the independent that Apple was holding off on near-field communication (NFC) technology to the next version of the iPhone, and then a story posted last night by Forbes claims that the effort is still on track.

The source on that newer report states that "an entrepreneur who at a top-secret NFC product works," which has a buddy to work at Apple. That compared with the independent from multiple sources on the issue, which had "several of the largest mobile operators in the United Kingdom."

Who to trust may be less important than the underlying message: NFC is coming to a future iPhone, it's just a matter of when.

This is the latest in a series of reports that the iPhone and other Apple products as recipients of NFC technology have linked to. NFC can transfer data between two devices on short distances (about 4 inches). For phones can this stuff like mobile payments, as well as transferring data between devices without the use of a mobile or near Wi-Fi network in a similar way to Bluetooth.

Signs that Apple was interested in NFC first surfaced in April last year, with the company submitting a number of patents, including use cases for the technology in its products. One of those which entails simply using an embedded NFC chip pick up on a nearby item for purchase. Other, more advanced use cases included things like a smart shopping cart system that what you had in your bag could tell, and let you pay for them on the spot with a NFC device.

One of the first major hints that NFC came to the next iPhone specifically comes from the blog TechCrunch some four months after the barrage of patent applications. That report, which cited an anonymous source, said that Apple planned to build NFC-enabled iPhones that hardware from NXP Semiconductor used. This was reinforced by the fact that a few days ago, the company had hired Benjamin Vigier, who had a background with NFC technology, the product manager for mobile commerce. Vigier had been a product manager at MFoundry, a company that payment technology for some 300 banks and credit unions, as well as the mobile service of PayPal processed.

Shortly after the report by TechCrunch, cult of Mac blog claimed that Apple's plans for NFC payments could far beyond racks and portable computing features include:

If users an iPhone NFC-equipped Golf on a Mac of the NFC (they must be close to interaction), the Mac all their applications, settings, and load data. It will be as if they were on their own machine at home or work. When the user leaves, and the iPhone NFC-equipped is out of reach, the host machine returns to its previous state.

That system of Apple computers to start packaging NFC chips should, which is not yet the case.

A follow-up to that report appeared last night, with cult of Mac Apple already say that "different" iPhone prototypes with built-in NFC was testing, but that there are still quite a bit of work to be done on the system that users log on and applications on NFC-enabled Mac computers with their NFC-enabled phones. That system, of the blog source said, took advantage of the Mac App Store to download applications that they could have bought on another computer, and they are usable for those computing session, even if it was not their own machine.

In addition to the cult of Mac report came one of the other news bits that claimed that NFC was led to the next version of the iPhone from Bloomberg in January. Citing sources at Apple, said technology consultant Richard Doherty, who was interviewed in the report, which the company indeed planning a service payments that makes use of NFC was and that was led to the AT&T version of the iPhone, as well as the iPad 2. On the basis of a follow-up interview with the NFC Times, Doherty claimed Bloomberg had misquoted him, and that his sourcing was not Apple, but developers for equipment manufacturers from China that Apple had delivered in the past.

As mentioned in our NFC story Monday, Apple has now more than 200 million Apple ID accounts, something the company claims is the largest number of accounts associated with credit cards on the Web. That payment network outside the domain of digital goods presents not only a new business opportunity for Apple, but also a way to combat competitor Google, which the company to the hardware, punch, including NFC support in the latest version of its Android mobile operating system already has beaten, and in new phones like the Nexus s. There is also Hewlett-Packard and its TouchStone connectivity technology, which is headed to the TouchPad tablet and phones with WebOS coming this spring.

Apple is expected to announce the follow-up to the iPhone 4 in June. That device is already said to be nearing its final form.

Toshiba to Release Android-based Tablet Honeycomb Midyear-CRN

An unnamed Toshiba tablet PC running Google's Android 3.0 operating system, the tablet-optimized version which is code named Honeycomb, has appeared on Amazon, together with a product description.

Even though Amazon's page does not give a specific price or the release schedule, say several online reports Toshiba tablet due times midyear, possibly in June. Toshibas earlier tablet device, Folio 100, had very little influence in the mobile market, and the company has yet to reveal the new moniker for the device.

The unit appears on Amazon's page features a 10.1-inch touch-screen and running a 1 GHz dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 chipset with integrated graphics on the Android platform. It comes with a user-replaceable battery and Toshiba's Adaptive display technology for displaying multimedia content in its 1200 x 800 pixel resolution display. It also includes an easy-to-grip can be changed back plate supplied in different colors, built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and a 5 MP-rear camera with Auto focus for 720 p video recording and a 2 MP front-facing camera.

Toshiba in January revealed his upcoming tablet with a prototype demonstration at CES 2011--with the only difference that in the event the Toshiba tablet running Android 2.2, codenamed Froyo, rather than the latest tablet-optimized version Android rolled out in the same event. Toshibas device was actually one of several Android products displayed at CES, since additional suppliers and distributors begin to adopt Google's mobile OS.

Toshiba's tablet also comes with a number of accessories that can help to distinguish the unit from its increasing number of competitors: a gyroscope, an accelerometer, a GPS, an e-compass, an ambient light sensor, mini and Gallery pages USB 2.0 ports, an SD card slot and an HDMI output. Finally, like Apple's App Store offers thousands of unique programmes is essential for its success, Toshiba launches its own app market named Toshiba places.

Apple released earlier this month follow-up thinner, more lightweight iPad 2 to the highly successful iPad, who won 87 percent of the tablet pc market in 2010.

There seems to be plenty of room in the budding tablet market for manufacturers such as Toshiba, who is known for their more traditional form-factor PCs, which can again see a reduction in the volume sold as tablets gain momentum. Research firms IDC and Gartner was Tablet PC cannibalization increasingly toward the end of last year. IDC said PC sales in the United States decreased 4.8 percent in the fourth quarter to 20.0 million units, while Gartner estimated that PC sales in the United States slipped 6,6 percent to 19.1 million units.

Toshiba has offered details on pricing for its upcoming tablet device.

How to switch from an iPhone to an Android phone-PC Magazine

With dozens of slick Android smartphones on the market, it is understandable why you want to leave a iPhone. Here is how you do it right.

Had enough of AT&T's coverage problems, and not to want to buy the same mobile phone twice? Allow us to help with that.

Two years ago, we would have been hard pressed to come up with reasons for an iPhone owner to switch to Android. It is no longer a problem thanks to the introduction of super-fast 4 G phones, high-resolution 4.3-inch screens, free GPS navigation and the Android market expansion.

Whether you are considering making the jump or have already pulled the trigger, here is a guide to ensure that the transition from iOS to Android OS goes smoothly:

Basic features

Go into an advanced phone. We review dozens of Android handsets across the Board; some of the forecast models are actually quite good now. But trust us; If you come from a slick iPhone, will you want to feel like you upgraded. Go to a 4-inch or 4.3-inch LCD, a 1 GHz or higher processor and a high resolution monitor. Get a 4 G phone, if possible, and without a doubt, to ensure that it is running at least Android 2.2. There is a dramatic difference in the feel and responsiveness of us, say, an EON LG ally and a high-end Samsung Galaxy S 4 G. Although it is $ 50 or $ 100 be amended more up front, that works out to chump over two years smartphone contract. HTC Inspire 4 G on AT&T, Samsung Galaxy S 4 G for T-Mobile, HTC EVO 4 G for Sprint and Verizon Motorola Droid X on are all great choices.

Change your boot screen paradigm. On Android is unlike the iPhone, it's about how you created your screen home. Not just stick with the default icons: install your favorite applications and useful widgets, and set the layout using multiple home screens you can a swipe between. Don't miss the four buttons along the bottom of the screen: the home page and menu buttons are, in particular, your friends, and help to clarify the almost any confusing situation on the screen itself.

Move your data in the cloud. Some of the best properties are Androids its various over-the-air sync settings for Google contacts, calendars, and e-mail. Many Android units you can combine Facebook, Twitter and Microsoft Exchange contacts with your phone's built-in address book. While there are ways to synchronize the local Microsoft Outlook data with an Android phone, the cumbersome and often unreliable.

See drain battery. Android is notorious for its poor standby battery life; most owners find it even worse than the iPhone. You extend the battery life, turn off the GPS and Wi-Fi when you're not using them. importantly, reduce or disable background polling for Facebook, Twitter and different e-mail accounts. You can always run a manual synchronization with a single button press with a moment's notice. (See also our detailed guide to improve your Android phone battery life.)

Synchronize your media the right way. With the iPhone, it is about iTunes. On Android, you have several options, including swapping microSD memory cards, wireless synchronization with double Twist, and dragging and dropping files directly via USB. No one is really superior; it comes down to personal preference. If you have lots of songs in your iTunes music library, you need to upgrade them to iTunes Plus (unprotected) in order to play them on your Android phone.

Enjoy Android Apps

The Google Voice decision. Google Voice, you can manage as many phones as you want from a central number. You can make and receive calls from within Gmail, manage your text messages and voice mail on your PC and block individual numbers from calling you. If you have an Android device, you can load the Google Voice app that integrates directly with us and you can make calls using your Google Voice number as caller id. There are some problems, latency, but. (Read our comprehensive guide about setting up and using Google Voice for more information).

Free Google Maps GPS Navigation. Any phone with GPS and Google Maps can direct you around on foot, or the on-screen step-by-step directions, as a passenger could read you in the car. But Android phones goes a step further and can serve as actual, voice-enabled, turn-by-turn navigation devices. Google Maps Navigation provides even features is missing many standalone GPS devices as an animated satellite view, photo realistic Street views of destinations and a flexible voice input mode, who understand complex instructions like "go to the museum with the Picasso exhibition in San Francisco."

Try to speak with your phone. Seen as navigation app is not the only ones who understand the voting instructions; You can also run voice searches in Android. Download Voice app from the Android market actions; It allows you to send text messages, Cue up tracks, call the contact persons or companies and created e-mail messages by using your voice.

Head to the market. You can now browse the Android market on market.android.com in a Web browser, as well as on the phone. You will find that most of the iOS apps have Android equivalents, except for Netflix, Hulu, iMovie and many games. Try Gamelofts site on gameloft.com for big game. Have taken note of the various adaptation apps.inf; You have much more room for manoeuvre in an amendment to the US, than you do with an iPhone, including the installation of alternative keyboards like Swype. You can also do things Apple would never approve of, such as download and install retro game console emulators.

iPhone 5 Prototype with metal back, larger display? – No! -All about the iPhone

5 an iPhone prototype was spotted at Foxconn as reported by 9 to 5 Mac. The prototype is rumored to have metal back and larger display. Download source package previously claimed to have 32 GB iPhone 4 prototypes that were exactly equal to what gizmodo found in a bar. The prototype is supposed to have a metal back. However, there is still some confusion about the build that the aluminium or liquid metal.

The display has been reported that is larger than the current model (iPhone 4). The larger display has been rumored, but the exact screen size is only pin pointed by the Digitimes that is 4 inches. The iPhone 5 prototype source does not claim to measure the size of the screen, but they are assuming greater or bigger than iPhone 4.

We believe that the rumors are not true. The Apple is not going to get an iPhone with a metal back, nor with a large screen size. Many users have used the similar metal back for and it is easily available on the internet. The metal back comes with a tool kit, so that the original glass at the back of the iPhone 4 to delete. As regards the screen is, I find not one reason or another, to the extent of the current (4 inch) as a different device fulfilling the requirement is available-iPad. If apple display further rises, then all the application available in the App store needs to be optimized again that is a big mess for both the company and developers.

SXSW panels: productivity and distraction, Blogger ethics in Online movie ...-Indie Wire (blog)

Warning: walking while reading the smart phone may be hazardous to your health. Tuesday night on my way home from the SXSW Awards Party at Austin of dark and overcrowded 6th Street, I stumbled and split my lip on the sidewalk, gushing blood. My BlackBerry was unhurt. I hailed a pedicab to the local THERE, where I no stitches needed, but looked like someone had hit me in the face.

Just the day before I was been furiously tweeting the NYT media columnist David Carr's interactive panel I am so productive, I never get anything done, for which he rounded panel members Anthony De Rosa (product manager at Reuters, founder of SoupSoup and Neighborhoodr.com) Molly McAleer (memoirs blog MollsSheWrote) La's and Ta-Nehisi Coates (senior editor/blogger at the Atlantic Ocean) address multitasking and productivity, and talked with me about it afterwards, below. Here is the live blog Steve Myers of the Panel.

In his intro for the packed room with people standing along the walls, said Carr:

"You answer email, check your RSS, Twitter, update, and then when you're finished you do all over again. Then ask your boss and your wife, ' what about what you paid for? ' We content creators. We create content and we are promoting. Lately I've been so busy promoting what I do that I don't do what I do. "

The internet is changing the brain: "it evaporates and turns into Red mist," said Carr. "The Web is the most prolific invention ever both the greatest time suck. " At the same time Carr feels a healthy envy for freelance blogger-turned-NYT media reporter Brian Stelter of endless productivity: "he is a robot assembled in the New York Times building and to kill me."

People who spend time on Twitter are often looking for himself, observed Carr, "day trading" in the Holy Church of the self. He abhors the lack of respect shown when you look at your smart phone instead of attending the one your with. Carr sees people don't communicate, typing next to each other. "There are a lot of people together at this Conference."

One questioner suggested trying a media-free week once per month: it's time to put down our phones and more present with each other. There was loud approval in the room for that sentiment.

McAleer finds it easy to do a personal memoir blog, but she is always on, 24/7. She is blogging her life, but worries about something happening with her dog when she runs him and reading her phone at the same time. Atlantic Coates said that unplugging and build real relationships in person is the key. He focused on his 11-year-old son. He writes short three to five interesting posts per day, but hopes that he will not be blogging in six years. He used to write more longer more thoughtful pieces.

The Rosa curator and aggregates around topics, he said: "it is difficult to unplug as there is always something to share." Original content is labor intensive, while the programming is about finding things; that is easier to keep. "We are more productive, but we are paid less." Carr added that America is the only country in the world where is when people get paid more they work harder.

There was a feeling afterwards that this Panel full of productivity tips less than therapeutic; the room was enjoying what they needed to hear.

The same was true on the Blogger centipede: how content is eroding credibility Panel (podcast is there; also check Twitter hashtag # bloggercentipede), who pulled a large cross-section of the online film community, known from my Twitter feed. It seemed that many of these movie site runners and staff needed to hear what their best practices and many of them pledged more transparent, link and share more credit going forward.

Moderater Kate Erbland, managing editor at GordonAndTheWhale.com (@ katerbland) moderated the panel (including myself) on the State of online journalism, ethics, steal, and curating. Children on the net are lifting tweets and posting other peoples reviews as their own, Cinematical critic William Goss (@ williambgoss) says: "how we [the concept of plagiarism] strengthen with a generation who thinks that copying and pasting is ok?"

"I don't know if it is inherent that are stealing from people," says MTV NextMovie Matthew Patches (@ mister patches), who sees whole pieces turning up on fan sites. "I do not know what that stems from." Pajiba Publisher Dustin Rowles (@ pajiba) is disturbed by how much ideas spread through the web, with no one knowing where they are incurred.

"We want to keep ourselves to a higher standard, 12-hour wait and report anything really?" asked Goss. "Get them excited about the real thing for the right reasons?" The Panel discussed issues of how pull readers to sites — with the same old trailer or rumours that everyone has, or with the original content, context and analysis? How to balance between quantity and speed with quality? You people drive by linking to other sites, or keep them by claiming that what you are running your own? What are the best practices on the web? How you weigh a casting short list, a screen-test or a rumor from a non credible source? Your readers with unconfirmed casting on a movie that is still bait?

Patches asked everyone to slow down. "Is not the answer to things right on your site to do?" asked one questioner. "We just fixed Internet, people," joked Patches. One questioner said people should just be shown how to do it. "They are supposed to teach ethics?" asked Patches. "Should we write a statement of principles," closed Goss.

"We have to help those guys," agreed Patches. "That helps them? We will disgrace them when they do something wrong but we will not help them when they're doing something right. "

A questioner also brought the issue of the attack on each other on Twitter. Let us respect, credit and original content about the movies we love, share Cinematical of Erik Davis said. "Less of an echo-chamber and more of a free love orgy," closed Goss.

The Guardian attended the Panel and some ideas together about the growing power of taste maker movie fan sites on festivals such as SXSW. Indeed.

You've probably noticed, by default, the drawing of Windows 7 taskbar for some applications. You can pay more only application by dragging and dropping it from the taskbar. The order in which these applications will appear is important, however, primarily because the tap together Win-key on the numeric keypad, the numbers either your own or your own alphabet atop keys intends to launch applications automatically, in the case of fixed toys, in the order they appear in the start menu. Google TV Remote iPhone App Hits iTunes Store-eWeek

Google reminded the audience that its Web-meets-TV service is still around by releasing a version of its Google TV Remote application for iPhone from Apple 18 March.

Launched in October on the Revue companion boxes and Logitech Sony Internet Tvs and Blu-ray players, Google TV is a software for Android-based service that allows users to switch between their TV content and Web applications such as Netflix and Amazon Video on Demand.

The service was largely pricey, unfinished or even buggy promulgated by many reviewers. Google some improvements were made in December to boost the user experience, Google TV Remote release app connects to Google TV via WiFi network of a user.

The remote App mimics the Logitech Google TV built keyboard controller, to let users change channels, adjust volume access DVR content.

However, it is a better, to let users to find shows and movies by speaking into their handset, from anywhere in their home. Google launched originally only this app for Android phone users, omitting Apple mobile device users who also use Google TV.

Google finally published the remote App for iPhone from Apple iTunes App Store, which users can download free of charge for the management of their Google TV content consumption of their iPhones, iPads, and iPod touch devices running iOS 3 or later.

Google offered a warning for the app; for some reason the iOS REMOTE ACCESS does not allow Google TV users share Web pages from their phone to their TV screen. This is a handy feature Android phone owners can use to "throw" YouTube videos of their handsets to watch on the big screen at home.

Google external App for iPhone is just the latest of several free, native apps that Google is designed for the iPhone since Apple of its developer terms of service loosened. The program joins Google Voice, Google Goggles, Google Latitude, Google places, among others.

What is unclear is how many iPhone or iPad owners are using Google TV instead of Apple TV, it is much cheaper, but less functional Web TV product. That would certainly have implications for how many people free Remote App for download iOS devices.

KENNEBUNK — the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, NH, was the setting for the annual first Robotics regional competition of 3-5 March. Droid Bionic Release now mid-April [says Verizon]-Android community

We just hanging like hooligans at a Verizon store today where we decided to inquire about a specific phone in the horizon: Motorola Droid Bionic. This is a phone with 512 MB of RAM, a dual-core processor, and would you know it – 4 G LTE speed. As it turns out, the remote control functionality Verizon was more than willing to leave us with a bit of info about this phone, most of what we already knew, but let slip a pretty important point of interest: the date of publication.

While they were TOO specific, since they were not 100% sure they did, these people, Verizon, tell us that the phone would be released somewhere around mid-April. This is a phone, there has been a front and rear-facing camera, Read totaling up to 8 megapixels of rage with a 4.3-inch touchscreen display qHD up front. And it is connected to the network, 4 G LTE network, we are all freaking out over with ThunderBolt. This phone leaves ThunderBolt obsolete immediately?

Perhaps. But there are those who still prefer the HTC to Motorola. Why? Heck, I know not. The fact that it has been built with the ability to silence calls by mirroring on the front page is enough to keep this dude on HTC. But who knows? I and we love XOOM tablet, and the ATRIX 4 G has this lovely webtop app, as you know, Droid Bionic will also get, so perhaps there is hope after all? Let us look at the press pics together and think of our decisions, we have in life:

Yes, there are iPad alternatives-CNET (blog)

There are other options.(Credit: Josh Miller/CNET)

A week ago, just after Donald Bell his positive evaluation of the iPad 2 posted, I posted a list of alternatives to the Apple tablet device. My intention was to show from CNET readers the wide availability of tablets on the market, and to show what promising products are still to come. At the time I thought it was a pretty innocuous post, but I had better need to know when a product from Apple is involved.

Over the weekend I started to receive reader emails asking me what the point of such a list was. The iPad was the best, of course, so suggest that there are alternatives to useless and was irresponsible. More readers comment on the post itself. Like commenter "segal2011", "only a sucker would buy one of these tablets. I would not like to be Kent German when someone follows his advice and one of these devices to buy only to find out that they are not an alternative to the iPad. "

If your mother would have said, everyone has a right to his or her opinion. But I don't hate that me and I don't feel any shame about CNET readers a range of tablet options. It is very true that the Motorola Xoom, the Samsung Galaxy Tab and the Dell Streak 7 not quite like the iPad. But that's the whole point. If Apple tablet, each has its own strengths and weaknesses, and each will appeal to the needs and the budget of a given user. If these are not alternatives, I don't know what.

Sure, some products are better than others, but I wouldn't want to live in a world where we all use the same gadget. Not only would I get a job, but it would be a pretty boring marketplace if each tablet was exactly the same. And dime-store philosophy, if everything was the same then how would we know really what was good?

So go easy on the people who just don't want to buy an iPad. Even if the iPad really the best tablet ever is, people have the right not to buy. And if they have something else to buy, they're not losers or ignorant. They choose simply for a product that appeals to them. And there is nothing wrong with that.

Because of this that you can actually siphon off some of this traffic and redirect to your site. You are in fact now leveraging the popularity of the content that you don't even have to make! Learn to use the ' News ' will help your content creation efforts to make life easier while also boosting your traffic at the same time!

Move to Windows 7: is it worth? In The Registry

Windows 7 may be the Recent news from SF.The NET than XP; but does it really pay the Ditch runs Windows XP, the Microsoft network and replaces the shiny new version?

Each organization is different, so is not the final answer and migration is expensive. That said, the cost of the lock-in is for XP. It is becoming more than 10 years old, and in spite of the three service packs, it is now visible of its age. XP does not take full advantage of today's hardware, such as power management, graphics and multimedia.

We are also beginning to see the important applications that do not work on XP, such as Microsoft, the future of the Internet Explorer 9. The aid is another question, to put an end to Microsoft by using the extended support on April 2014.

Stand are real improvements in Windows 7. Why is Microsoft's best effort since XP historical reasons. The company spent a lot of energy to secure phone connection in WINDOWS XP SERVICE PACK 1 or Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Windows Vista.

Several setbacks to the Vista of social security schemes to employed persons, .for, despite long delays and was the performance, usability, and compatibility issues in the final version. However, the Vista of the architectural changes were sound, which meant that the focus on Windows 7 Microsoft may optimize performance and the fixing of maximum levels for pesticide residues in the user interface (UI).

Admin should also be borne in mind that many of the changes to the side. Window is a summarized version of the Imaging Format (wim) was introduced in Windows Vista and allows you to build components of the standard throughout the range of devices. Is also easier to maintain when the changes are necessary, which will preserve the Windows 7 network reliably. Group Policy for Windows 7, combined with Server 2008 has many new options.

Some of the features of Windows 7 otherwise would require a third-party tools, in particular, the Enterprise Edition. Also available in Vista, BitLocker Drive encryption to encrypt the entire hard disk drive when Bitlocker, Windows 7 only allows you to encrypt removable storage such as USB memory sticks.

Direct access, which requires Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2, at least one instance, allow users to connect to file shares, and on the Internet without a virtual private network (VPN) connection. This is a lighter and less risky than a VIRTUAL PRIVATE NETWORK (VPN) that provides remote access to all or none.

AppLocker, a second Enterprise Edition feature, is restrictive, which applications are run. It is difficult to determine, but usually more efficient than the old software restriction policies.

Microsoft argues that its own internal helpdesk received 42% less operating system required to support Windows 7 after deployment. There is no guarantee that it intends to do the same in other contexts, but why is Optimistic. Windows 7 is more flexible than in previous versions of the identification and prevention of the many incompatible applications and device drivers for new hardware to install correctly.

When support is needed, remote support to users of Windows 7 is more flexible and pragmatic than in earlier versions of the window. Reliability Monitor displays important system events and application errors in the chart, to quickly identify problems.

The availability of Windows 7, most of the property is on the taskbar, which both displays the running applications and restart them to users. The property is associated with the thumbnails, which give users Visual information when selecting between the instances by using the mouse.

This is faster and more intuitive than cycling through the Alt-tab applications. Related to the feature is called jump lists starts in, right-click the task bar icon that shows recently used documents and custom shortcuts selected for a specific application.

The operating system may be more or less than the sum of its parts, though. Vista, as well as the users of the anonyymipalvelimien, despite the long list of supposed improvements. Windows 7 users in general such as, perhaps in response to Microsoft is to make the system quieter and less annoying.

It is also necessary with regard to the assessment of conformity and, although not immune to them, the mysterious, aggravating stops, which are specific to Windows, version 7 is a significant improvement. This translates into higher productivity.

How can you, as well as the amount of the costs and benefits of Windows 7 migration and do an activity diagram? Available, such as developed by the Hall after hearing that attempt to measure this are tools.

That said, it will never be an exact science. One factor is that your organization has embraced the Microsoft platform. If the direction is the thin clients and web applications, the local operating system is less important, and perhaps XP makes a few years.

On the other hand, if the Office, Exchange, SharePoint and other Microsoft technologies, users and administrators find they work smoothly with Windows 7 and XP approaching its end of life. ®

Windows 7 system restore: less reliable than XP? -PCWorld

The main computer is Lenovo ThinkStation for Windows 7 Professional, the operating system. Today will try to do a restore point manually, I have ended, on the other hand, a restore point window is a summarized version of the Restore. There, I could not help but note that it was only one of the available restore points.

Only one? (Yes, I have to click "show more restore points" in the dialog box).

It was a week old, and the installation of the Java 6 Update 24, launched.

Justice was also a five-month-old picture of the restore point, system, there is no doubt that the agreement which the experiment on my Windows 7 included in the backup image processing program. I'm not sure if the whole image can be treated as a backup restore point, but even if it may be five months old, and a backup copy of the file may not be available.

The computer gets turned on and off on a daily basis and has been in a few months of service. (C) of the disk partition is 35 GB of free space. System Restore is configured to use more than 1.65 GB of space. And one of the miserable restore point?

Curious, I checked the only other Windows 7 system available to me. This was the first entry into service in October 2009 and the number of months, it has been used on a daily basis. In recent times, it has grown to a little benefit.

It was all of two of the restore points.

System Restore uses 245 MB of hard disk space and its boundary was 670 MB. So why did only two returned to the show? Both were in a few weeks old; one had been manually, the second is created from the Windows Update Web site.

I Got A RPs?

Any mature Windows 7 system, which wants to comment on the available restore points, together with the current status of appropriations and the largest in the system restore, you will need to do it in the comments below.

You can view the status of system restore, do not use the appropriations: Control Panel-System-> > advanced system settings (left column) to the system protection tab > leaf > Enter button.

You can see the available restore points, go back to the system protection tab, click to select System Restore, click the next button and make sure that you enable the "Show more restore points" checkbox.

In Windows XP

It seems that Windows XP is more reliable when it comes to do the restore points. Without any specific progress, its default value, you should be able to do one day.

Another computer that uses the regular XP Professional operating system available to restore score was four, and they were all in the past. They had been taken: 5 hours ago, 4 days ago, weeks ago, and 2 days ago. Restore points available to some nuuka 441 MB.

Also revised the XP computer, which may not be used a lot and it was more than 12 (I stopped counting). Studies of this computer to the restore points to 978 MB.

Online search, I found the documents to restore points from Microsoft, which says

Windows 7 System Restore creates a restore point, scheduled only if the other restore points are created in the last 7 days.

The possibility to choose, I prefer to use the system daily to XP. And this does not explain why the 1.65 GB targeting the property system to be only one restore point.

I'm not alone in this. Last year, and one of his request leo.com-Web site of Leo Notenboom questions was Why my restore points in Windows 7 to keep the loss?

In his answer? You should not rely on the system restore.

Good advice.

Update: 15. March 2010. A little more digging will tell you that what is missing is displayed once a week is going to return to normal, no score. According to the United States Census Bureau, for example, Windows 7, you own it is called "automatic restore point". And my two Windows 7 systems is one of the. I use the system, which rarely has no restore points all over two weeks as a test, I leave for some time and see if the automatic one must be created for. ..
